On the road again…watch out Gavin, we’re on our way!
May 27th, 2006
We woke up to a very bright morning in Williams thinking that it was going to be a warm one…well, we were a bit mistaken. The temp was in the mid to high 60’s and the wind was blowing like crazy (a little chilly) which didn’t help us to keep warm as we were dressed for weather in Phoenix! No worries, we didn’t have far to go for our final meal at Max & Thelma’s Diner (a cute buffet restaurant where we ate most meals at over the 2 days at the canyon). We even got to check out the steam engine as it took off for it’s first journey of the season into the Grand Canyon. Very cool way to start off the day! After a quick stroll through The Depot gift shop (we both had $20 to spend from the package deal), we finally hit the road. The drive wasn’t bad, only about 3.5 hours. We even found a Starbucks on the way! We made a slight detour for Brad to give me the tour of Phoenix from his A’s Spring Training point of view. We also needed internet access so we could update the blog with pictures from the days before, so we parked at the La Quinta where Brad knew that we would be able to access their network. It worked out great – Brad uploaded pictures while we both had a great conversation with Brenda/mom! We arrived at Gavin’s home around 2:30pm where we had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful woman in his life – Liz. We all had such a great time hanging out, getting food ready to grill and drinking Gavin’s famous cosmos (they’re fabulous and I’m not usually a cosmo drinker). Dinner was fantastic, not that you would expect anything else from Gavin. Liz – it was GREAT to meet you and we’re both looking forward to seeing you more often! Gavin, thank you very much for the hospitality and so on and so forth
