Last Stop in Cali – NC, we’re finally on our way!
May 23rd, 2006
Believe it or not, we survived a GREAT (and exhausting) day at Disneyland and was still able to stay on track for destination F – San Diego the next morning! We even got a chance to experience a morning in the life of the Davis family! Mark hurried off with Martha in order to get her to Disneyland and Tricia hurried off to get Becca to school on time…all this while Tricia was making cookies for her get together at 9 – it was definitely exciting to watch as it all play out seemlessly
After everyone left, we picked up our room, got ourselves ready, loaded the car, and were on our way. We gassed up the Jeep, coffeed up, and were set for our next stop just north of sunny San Diego to spend a quick, but fun night with Mike and Michelle…but not without a small detour along the way. We had a quick (slightly out of the way) stop to see my grandfather’s grave in Perris , just outside of Riverside (I haven’t been back since he passed last July). I had a great chat with him and cleaned up head stones as best as I could. I think he’ll be in good shape until I get back down here again to see him. We got there a bit early and had time to take a leisurely walk on one of the many beautiful beaches off I-5. The sun was high above our heads, the sand was warm on our feet, and we had each other to walk hand-in-hand with – can’t ask for more than that! When we finally got to Mike and Michelle’s, we were greated by their very lickity dog, McKinley – he’s so cute, you don’t even mind all of his slobber! Almost immediately after Mike got home from work, he had the margaritas made (even with salt for me and Michelle) and discussions started about where to go for dinner. We settled on a sushi restaurant, Mesquite Grille, which was perfect (our last sushi dinner near the Pacific Ocean for awhile)! Then headed back for more margaritas and caught up on the Sopranos episode from last week. Unfortunately, I had too much tequilla and ended up sleeping through parts of it, but everyone helped to fill in the missing parts when it was all finished…we’ll just have to buy this season too once it’s available. Mike and Michelle – thank you both for the the great night out and for being such great hosts for our quick visit!!! We’re already looking forward to the next one!
